A place that is home to not one, not two, but three diverse and growing industry clusters comprised of internationally recognized companies.
A place hosting one of the world’s fastest growing Transportation Equipment & Aerospace clusters
A place with an organization dedicated solely to supporting its transportation equipment & aerospace manufacturers.
Over the last 25 years, the North Country has emerged as a globally competitive hub for transportation equipment and aerospace manufacturing. Today, we have one of the most diverse and innovative transportation clusters in the world, comprised of over 50 companies and purposely built around four core sectors (road, rail, air, and marine) which stand alone in many places but enjoy special synergies through their shared location in our region.
Our cluster is comprised mainly of U.S. subsidiaries of well-known Canadian manufacturers and is anchored by companies such as:
Best of all, our transportation equipment and aerospace cluster has an organization dedicated to serving it - the North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment (NAmTrans), a strategic subsidiary of the North Country Chamber of Commerce which has developed a number of direct support services for its members.

Beyond transportation equipment, our region has a long and proud history of being a hub for all types of manufacturing - plastics, food, textiles, luxury goods, paper products, and other consumer items. This is in due part to our low utility rates, strategic location, and our skilled, trained workforce that companies can rely on to be efficient and innovative.

The greater-Plattsburgh region and the Village of Saranac Lake have positioned themselves as small but vibrant centers for biotechnology companies. Biotech companies interested in locating in the North Country can benefit from a skilled workforce with experience in this industry. Proximity to Trudeau Institute and Miner Institute, research institute with world-renowned reputations who are ready and eager to partner, is an added bonus.
If you're looking for space, look no further than the NorthStar Technology Center located in Chazy, NY only six miles from the Canadian border. NorthStar is an ultra-modern former Pfizer Research and Testing facility that now offers space for manufacturing, warehousing, offices, and labs.
